On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Lead Piping Engineer, located in our client's office in Meerssen (NL).
General Description includes complex Piping engineering design, analysis and development of an assigned scope of work in a project and/or specific complex deliverables such as piping stress analysis, piping specification, and speciality items. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment, nozzle loads, and anchor location systems. Is able to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers. Assists with training other engineers by providing instruction on new technologies and/or a specialisation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform conceptual, FEED or detailed design analysis and develop them as per project Scope of Work design basis, project documentation, design codes and standards and McDermott procedures within the planned schedule and budget.
- Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations and report them to Project Management Team and Department Manager at early stage.
- Prepare detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.
- Manage own time to meet objectives and forecast and plan resource requirements.
- Lead others to solve complex problems, uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions.
- Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve technology, processes or services.
- Explain difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
- Focused on health and safety policies and procedures.
- Trains/mentors other employees in the department.
- Assists and monitors MOPEX offices on projects.
- Has a good understanding of the other engineering departments.

- Defines scopes of work for engineering/construction fabrication yard.

- Assists in furthering the department.
- Tasks as Lead Engineer:
- Works as Lead Engineer for mostly large size, unique and complex EPC projects.
- Review Piping budget, and provide Piping input for Project Execution Plan.
- Plan, organize and assign tasks, responsibilities, and man-hour budgets to piping sub-discipline and verify tasks are completed within budgets.
- Support 3D-Model review at 30%, 60% & 90% progress
- Provide Piping Discipline input into Plan Level 2, 3 and 4 schedules and review the dependencies.
- Prepare discipline forecasts identifying changes to scope and promptly raising a notification.
- Alert team of any deviation from the Scope of work or a need for a change order.
- Provide piping man-hours, schedule, and deliverables list including Piping Discipline Execution Plan
- Check and approve design philosophies, specifications, pipe supports, standard detail drawings, MTO and material requisitions in accordance with the project scope of work and contract.
- Monitor KPI measurement results and take corrective action.
- Lead Piping Discipline during project internal or External Audits.
- Coaches potential lead engineers.
- Explains and consider plans to designers, engineers, project management and client.
- Recommend best practices for execution/improvement of the project.
- Works in close liaison with Design Coordinator, area leads, etc.
- Has extensive MOPEX experience.
- Proactively manages change and clearly conveys how the change will impact team, project and business.
- Sets up all engineering computer systems.
- Is responsible for discipline within the engineering group.
- Gives relevant feedback to the department.
- Has a broad view of the market and industry policies and developments.
- Uses technology, design and innovation.
