Senior Regulatory Specialist

Position Summary:

Exciting new opportunity for an exceptional candidate to be part of the USA Environment and Society (E&S) team to help serve clients in both the Energy and Chemicals Sectors and in the US Gulf Coast region. The position will be based in Baton Rouge but will be 100% remote. You will have responsibilities for technical excellence and client relationships, with a particular focus on our energy and industrial client service lines, working closely with the larger parent organization. You would also support business development activities, working with senior leaders of the E&S team, by identifying clients and opportunities, and building client networks. It is anticipated that our Baton Rouge team will grow, and you will be positioned to help coordinate and potentially lead our E&S activities.

Our current emphasis is on permitting and compliance for up-, mid- and downstream activities and chemicals, as well as the energy transition (such as biofuels, green hydrogen, carbon management and renewable power). Air or water quality permitting could be part of the role. You may also support our initiatives in other regions of the US and elsewhere.

This new and exciting opportunity will report to the Vice President – Environment & Society, USA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Support work for energy and chemical clients and our strategic initiatives in energy transition by providing on-the-ground regulatory and environmental engineering advice and leadership.

· Interact with the broader team to provide comprehensive environmental, engineering and operational support to energy clients including LNG, pipelines, refining and chemicals.

· Air, water and waste engineering-led permitting services such as stormwater and SPCC planning.

· Identify new opportunities and support proposal preparation and client development.

· Be a point person for the E&S projects and opportunities in the South and Gulf regions.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, environmental science, environmental planning, or equivalent; Advanced degree(s) preferred in a relevant subject area
  • 10+ years of professional experience, preferably with an environmental consulting organization, an operator, contractor or regulator
  • Demonstrated commitment to HSE leadership
  • Expert knowledge in the environmental and regulatory issues associated with energy development and operation in Louisiana and the Gulf
  • A working understanding of the regulatory and governmental community (such as FERC, USEPA, USACE, LDEQ, other state and local agencies) and industry
  • Excellent client and agency interfacing skills
  • Track record of successful management of projects / work packages to meet agreed budget and schedule
  • Technical reporting prowess
  • Preparation of proposals, budget estimates and schedules for projects / work packages
