Senior Compliance Specialist
Position: Full-Time Permanent
Location: Calgary, Canada

We are recruiting for a client in the Autonomy and Positioning manufacturing industry. This position involves ensuring products meet stringent reliability, robustness, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and optimize the planning, execution, and management of the hardware verification project activities, including creation of test plans, test procedures, test records, reports, component qualification, debugging prototype hardware, investigation of design defects and testing of design changes. Perform detailed product testing at the system and component levels.
  • Contribute to the review, updates and continuous improvement initiatives related to hardware verification and compliance process flow
  • Facilitating technical development of all team members by highlighting technical gaps and providing training solutions
  • Ensure all test activities and configurations are coordinated effectively, internally and externally – properly planned and vetted for purpose and location
  • Manage regulatory activities; testing, data review, certifications, type approvals, sustaining needs
  • Responsible for internal project communications; status reports, project meeting updates
  • Provide EMC/EMI test standard interpretation, testing and design expertise
  • Provide design and manufacturing support with regards to product performance
  • Assist in managing global certification processes, wireless regulations, safety certifications and type approvals
  • Build, manage and maintain external lab relationships with external service providers, laboratories, certification bodies (UL, CSA) and agencies

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Technology diploma or engineering degree from a recognized institution
  • 10+ years of experience in a hardware verification and/or regulatory compliance testing including test methodologies and best practices
  • Extensive experience with external service providers (EMC, EMI, Safety, Thermal, Environmental, Mechanical) and possess the required skill to manage them effectively
  • Knowledge of global wireless approval requirements, homologation and certification processes
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty, quality assurance and calibration
  • Prior experience with regulatory requirements for electronic devices, i.e. EMC, EMI, 60950-1, FCC Part 15, European Directives (RED, LVD, EMC), RoHS, REACH, WEEE
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs and computer skills
  • Leadership experience, training, and qualities
  • Experience with ISO 17025, ISO 16949, ISO 14001
  • Ability to attain necessary security clearances
