Senior Accounting Manager
Position: Contract, 8-12 months
Location: Houston, TX
Our client in the Engineering Procurement and Construction industry is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager for a short-term project. The ideal candidate must possess a CPA license, have prior experience in divestiture accounting, and be proficient in SAP.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage 2-3 finance contractors through one year services delivery
- Comfortable communicating & reporting to senior finance leadership
- Delivery requirements for Carveout Scope:
- Carveout P&L, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flow creation
- Subledger journals between entities
- Subledger to General Ledger reconciliation
- Combine financial results across multiple operating units within Oracle R12 & Hyperion/HFM
- Support journal entries specific to carveout scope during monthly close process
- Analyze reasonableness of divestiture accounting in collaboration with US & Canada statutory teams.
- Calculate gain/loss on sale of business
- Understanding of intercompany accounting transactions and ability to evaluate for accuracy and completeness
- Familiarity with Due to / Due from accounting particularly related to divestiture environment
- Review multiple legal entity trial balances for reasonableness & identify risks
- Work with Operations, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Project Accountants, Legal, HR, Payroll, Treasury, Tax and other support functions to address process improvements and ad hoc requests
- May include direct contact and support of external auditors
- Other Ad Hoc requirements as determined based on delivery requirements
- Some Work may be required outside of "normal working hours"
- Hybrid office/home working environment - 1-2 days in office, remainder at home
Experience and Qualifications:
- Active CPA status;
- 10+ years post graduation experience in medium to large publicly traded companies
- Hyperion Reporting and Oracle R12 experience
- Technical accounting implementation and consolidation accounting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized and ability to dig in and deliver requirements with limited delegation support
- Preferences:
- Engineering, Construction, Project related industries
- Public Accounting Audit Assurance 3+ years experience, highly preferred
- ERP migration/conversion exposure preferred
- IFRS experience is a plus
- Experience dealing with shared service providers
