Quality Manager – Welding/ Fabrication

Delta, BC

Our North American Industrial Fabrication client is seeking a Quality Manager for their busy operation across Western Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with QMS committee to develop quality assurance and quality control procedures, processes, work instructions and policies
  • Managing quality systems including the Quality System database, processes, and procedures
  • Advising management of areas for concern about prospective projects and clients
  • Participating in the project quality audit and certification body audit to maintain company quality certifications (eg: ISO, CISC, AISC, CWB, etc.)
  • Planning/conducting QMS internal audit and ensure competency of internal auditors
  • Developing project Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)
  • Managing records of all welding-related activities, including control of WPSs, PQRs, welder qualifications, Non-Destructive Testing, etc.
  • Handling NCRs and compiling Quality turnover

Education/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Welding or Metallurgical Engineering is an asset
  • CSA W178.2 Level 2 or 3
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience in the structural steel, bridge or manufacturing industry
  • Detailed knowledge with Canadian and US Codes, such as CSA W59, W47.1, S16, S6, AWS D1.1/D1.5/D1.8, API650, API653, ASME Sect IX
  • Familiar with AISC and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems requirements
  • Technical team leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings to verify alignment and dimensions of products
