Project Engineer

Position: Contract or Permanent

Location: Whiting, IN

Our client is looking to add a Project Engineer to work onsite at a large client refinery. This person will primarily be site support to the home office engineering team in Edmonton supporting multiple projects for the Site projects team. Role will include field data gathering, field checking and relationship building.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To manage, direct and supervise all direct project functions, thus ensuring cost effective and efficient achievement of all works.
  • Prioritization of designated projects in accordance with available resources.
  • Liaise with Site Team Lead and key stakeholders to ensure the needs of the asset are met as required
  • Establish good working relationship with customer technical counterparts and other stakeholders.
  • As site technical customer interface, addresses technical coordination issues with the customer and the home office engineering teams.
  • Support review and approval of project estimates to achieve given scope of work.
  • Understands project budgets, project resource plan and earned value. Ensures projects are delivered at or below the approved budget. Ensures proper management of change expectations processes are understood and used by the project team.
  • Support Project Managers with ensuring the Project Teams obtain the necessary resources to perform their project objectives.
  • Direct line responsibility to the Edmonton office Project Managers during engineering design and procurement period of the projects and functional responsibility to the Projects Department Head.
  • Supports adherence to the schedule and reporting of project's progress and achievements, to the required level of detail to the Project Managers.
  • Understand and help steward project performance to meet customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Assist if necessary, during the construction and commissioning phase of the project
  • Quality Assurance - Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system for Edmonton office Site Projects Portfolio. Includes support identifying potential technical risks and effective risk mitigation and resolution plans.
  • Safety - Understand and embrace the company's Life program. Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the site and understand and follow all company safety practices. Support ensuring HSE requirements are include in design and procurement.
  • Develop understanding of company management and Knowledge System, process and tools as well as customer's project delivery requirements, tools and systems

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree applicable engineering subject
  • Minimum: 8-12 years with 5-7 years design experience and 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • Onshore related Oil & Gas, Refinery / Petrochemical
  • Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
