Project Accountant – major project
Our client are developing a major pipeline project and recruiting for a Project Accountant to manage the day to day financial and commercial activities of the Project.
This role reports into the Major Projects Finance Manager and will be based in West London
Day to Day finance activities to be performed
Communicates regularly with Project Director and Project Controls staff to ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing and up-to-date project financial information
Provides financial input regarding labour costs, project expenses, overheads and other projects costs
Ensures the project invoicing function prepares accurate billings which are fully recorded in the project accounting system.
Steward ongoing cash forecasting; upholds strong, visible credit risk management, including identification and management of financial and treasury risk
Responsible for delivering consistent, accurate and timely management information (financial and statistical) to all key stakeholders for decision making purposes
Management of the project WIP and AR balances
Responsible for the source ERP data for management reporting.
For the overseas entity, liaise closely with the Corporate Statutory Accounting Manager to provide input to regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and transactional activities such as AP, payroll that are performed.
Responsible for Corporate monthly financial reporting and project rolling forecasting and budgeting.
Ensures alignment of the project controls and finance functions.
Responsible for any ad hoc analysis. Designs financial models, scenarios and sensitivities for the project. Advises on the design and application of models
Provide commercial support to the project and business on margin improvement, overhead reduction and cash flow maximization. Continue to monitor/assess the risk profile of project and recommend remedial action prior to commercial impact

The candidate must be a strategic thinker, have strong organizational and communication skills and have the ability to work as part of a multi-discipline team of professionals. The successful candidate will possess the following skills/attributes:
Requires a self-starter with firm decision-making skills and at least 5 years significant financial experience
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience
Exceptional technical and analytical accounting skills, specifically in the areas or analysis and reporting
Experience as a strategic business partner to operational teams across the business
Engineering, consulting and construction project experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP knowledge
