Process Engineer

Location: Geismar, LA
We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer/ Plant Operations Engineer to join our client's chemical plant team and help support maintenance, operations, and capital.
The ideal candidate will have experience in chemical process engineering and plant operations. They should have strong problem-solving skills, be able to think on their feet, and be able to identify areas of improvement in the plant.
The Process Engineer/ Plant Operations Engineer will be responsible for designing and improving the process of our plant, as well as troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues. They must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a good understanding of industrial safety practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model processes and facility unit operations in simulation software
- Maintain Master PID set going forward through Construction & Commissioning.
- Engineer any Process Changes within Commissioning/Start-up, working with client on all MOC deliverables.
- Serve as Project Engineer, assisting Project Manager as needed on Project priorities.
- Lead Commissioning activities, as detailed in fully pre-developed Commissioning Procedure.
- Take part in individual systems and overall Unit PSSRs.
- Assist Operations with consolidation & improvement of operating procedures.
- Assist in Operator training
- Provide troubleshooting expertise during start-up.
- Work with Chemists/Chemical Engineers on data & performance validation in comparison with other client site on identical experiment runs done at both sites in the same size reactor tubes.
- Identify post start-up process improvements to be addressed on future MOCs & Capital Projects
- Potentially, as time allows, populate PSV database using the PDF safeguarding packages and PSV datasheets supplied by EP Contractor.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for piping systems
- Develop process flow diagrams and heat and material balances
- Organize and provide process data to other disciplines, namely mechanical and instrumentation for evaluation of equipment/instrument operating parameters and sizing of equipment/instruments
- Checking/troubleshooting process equipment system designs
- Prepares specifications and operating instructions for process equipment/systems
- Evaluate flare and relief systems, including PSV sizing following applicable client standards, API 520 Part I/II, and API 521
- Communicate with vendors on sizing, operation, and performance of equipment, includes obtaining quotes for new equipment as required
- Development of facility drawings
- Strong participation in hazard reviews/HAZOP events
- Participate in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
- Ensure project execution is within the approved budget
- Participate in and contribute to development of all phases of project engineering, including FEED, detailed design, and construction support
- Maintain effective communication with multidiscipline project team members and the client
- Ensure adherence to company and client specifications and governing codes and standards
- Ensure adherence to company and client health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) requirements, as well as state and federal regulations
Experience and Qualifications:
- Recognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or University required
- 3-7+ years' experience within Chemical plant.
