Principal Piping Engineer

Position: 12M Contract

Location: Houston – in office

***Must have floating offshore platform experience (not fixed platforms)***

As a Principal Piping Engineer the successful candidate will be a part of a global team that delivers excellent project services to our customers throughout the world. Said candidate will be responsible for comprehensive engineering, design and coordination services for Offshore Floating Platform projects in the piping engineering group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Execute pipe stress engineering tasks on offshore projects

· Coordinate the efforts of multiple engineers assigned to a single project

· Proactively collaborate with internal teams and/or external third-parties to meet project commitments, costs, and schedules

· Support Piping Material Requisition, Technical Bid Evaluation & Vendor Documents of Piping related items

· Conduct document checking and design verification tasks in accordance with company and project procedures

· Other duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years’ experience in piping engineering
  • Extensive experience working on floating platforms in the Gulf of Mexico
  • Demonstrated understanding of ASME B31 and other piping codes
  • Experience with ASME B16 and other applicable industry standards
  • Expert in offshore piping design and codes including:
  • ASME B31.3 High Pressure Piping Chapter IX (pipe stress experience preferable up to 20 ksi)
  • ASME B31.4 Chapter IX (offshore pipe stress experience)
  • ASME B31.8 Chapter VIII (offshore pipe stress experience)
  • Experience with equipment including: Dry screw compressors, Centrifugal compressors, Reciprocating pumps as well as Pipeline launchers/receivers
  • Knowledge of the engineering development process and typical Piping Engineering deliverables such as piping isometrics, piping line classes, line designation tables, specialty items, material selection diagrams, and so on
  • Proficient in use of pipe stress analysis using Caesar II and NozzlePro
  • Dynamic analysis, Modal analysis, Deck deflections
  • Fatigue analysis, Blast analysis, Transportation analysis
  • Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and AutoCAD
  • EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience
  • Professional License Registration in Texas
