Energy Resourcing are currently recruitment for a major EPC contractor for a Principal Electrical Engineer to be based in their Stockport office for an initial 12 month contract. Construction & commissioning project.

You will provide electrical engineering services on large or mega projects to client and its customers', including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team.

Manage electrical engineering services that meet client, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.

Manage electrical engineering project requirements.

Manage electrical engineering services such as:

participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and comply with required checking procedures;

ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;

provide advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation.

Act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects.

If responsible for a team:

  • outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress; and
  • ensure the required services meet client, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between client and its Customer's requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
  • If required, assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
  • Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required

  • Lead electrical engineering on a large Detailed Design project
  • Lead team of electrical engineers to provide Construction and Commissioning support as the project progress to site
  • Fast paced Battery Materials and Battery Manufacturing project
  • Coordinating of all project electrical requirements with various disciplines and across multiple execution centers
  • Liaise with Client and Project team to set execution strategy for delivering the electrical scope
  • Manage a large team of Electrical Area Leads across the project to produce deliverables such as Load list, Equipment specifications and datasheets (incl Low and High Voltage Switchgear, Power Transformers, VSD's and Thyristor Controllers), SLDs, Protection & Metering diagrams, Cable Schedules, etc
  • Liaise with client to determine optimal electrical generation and distribution configuration and lead the team to perform power system studies to validate the design
  • Provide guidance and review of the electrical plant layout, space planning and electrical distribution and equipment layout requirements
  • Liaise with client and procurement team to set up and manage a team of electrical requisition engineers to support as procurement activities for all electrical equipment and support input to other disciplines

  • Extensive experience of Electrical Engineering
  • Preferably degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering; you should be either a Chartered Engineer or actively pursuing Chartered Engineer status with the appropriate Institute.
  • Ability to lead the Electrical discipline on projects including budget & schedule control / monitoring and reporting
  • Proven ability for equipment specification and selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers, preferably within an EPC contracting organization including Technical Bid Analysis, Vendor drawing review and attendance at Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Experience in managing fast track projects and dealing with change management on projects
  • Experience of work-share execution including working with remote design teams is an advantage
  • Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to client and its clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the electrical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software.
  • Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • A recognized and relevant engineering degree.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering; management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent.
