We are currently representing a nuclear power generation client seeking a Nuclear Oversight Auditor 21-034.

Job Overview:

Assist Nuclear Oversight Lead Auditors and Auditors in performing Nuclear Oversight Audit and assessments.

  • Key duties are to perform observation on Nuclear Staff and Nuclear documents, determine gaps in performance against governance, and industry standard best performance
  • Provide leadership for audit engagement and special projects as assigned and be accountable to ensure that methods and results adhere to audit standards
  • Responsible for audit scope, audit report and schedule adherence
  • Formulates specific work assignments, and includes team members input and discussion on requirements, issues and the like, taking appropriate and timely action to deal with unsatisfactory performance, consistent with approved policies and procedures
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of audits/independent assessments to comply with codes, standards and regulatory requirements, and OPGN expectations, for the safe operation of nuclear stations, and ensuring that the audit team is prepared prior to the initiation of the audit
  • Independently plan, and audit/assess work activities, control of processes, work programs, safety programs and training etc., to ensure that line organizations’ are adequately established and controlled to maintain design and licensing bases for the station
  • Support the development of audit programs, performance assessments, and risk-based assessment programs, as required, to meet the business needs of the senior management, considering nuclear business objectives, strategies and risks facing the company
  • Provide meaningful input to the department Manager specific to the formalization of department work programs and tasks and seek to improve work processes
  • Maintain professional relationships with management, stakeholders and external service providers
  • Participate in the assessment and communication of audit findings to determine significant conditions adverse to quality, reliability and nuclear business risks, providing insight to management regarding the effectiveness of internal controls in mitigating key risks to the nuclear business
  • Reporting of audit conclusions, planned management actions, follow-up status to Business Unit Leaders and Senior Management as appropriate, monitor the status and resolution of corrective and management actions in response to identified control gaps
  • Continually assess and maintain Ontario Power generation (OPG) and Nuclear-specific governing documents, including policies, standards and procedures

Qualifications:

The following is required:

  • Sound experience in engineering, nuclear operations and maintenance, technical support, and codes and compliance to become familiar with problems associated with the overall operation of a nuclear generating facility, with particular emphasis on governance programs
  • Experience in the performance of audits/evaluations to become familiar with provincial, national and international codes, standards and regulations as well as audit/evaluation techniques and responsibilities
  • On-the-job experience to be familiar with the Nuclear organization and management processes in various disciplines related to operations, engineering, radiological safety, work safety and plant support
  • Experience in a leadership capacity to effectively motivate, coach, facilitate, and empower others to attain optimal work performance with a high level of personal responsibility and self-management and providing feedback on such performance to the department manager

Experience in Nuclear Programs such as Nuclear Oversight, Licensed Operations, Field Operations, Maintenance, and Cross Functional Programs such as Fire Protection, Radiation Protection, Work Control, Work Protection, Environment and Chemistry

Desired:

  • Former Qualifications in programs (Nuclear Oversight, Licensed Operations, Field Operations, Maintenance, and/or Cross Functional Programs)
  • Supervisory Experience in Nuclear is also desired

Contractors must operate as an Incorporated entity for this position.
