Manager, Human Resources
Position: Permanent
Location: Houston, TX
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented professional! Our client is looking for a Manager of Human Resources to help build a team at their new Houston manufacturing plant. This individual will be expected to travel 50% to other plant locations to learn the company policies, procedures, and culture.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment with blue-collar employees. They should have an understanding of labor laws and benefits, and have the ability to build relationships with employees and management. They will be responsible for developing and managing the HR department and ensuring smooth operations.
The plant is set to open at the end of 2023 and this individual will work remotely until the plant is open. If you are an experienced HR professional with the necessary skills and qualifications, we welcome you to apply!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Managers regarding Human Resources related matters, escalating issues of risk to the
- Director, Operations
- Continuously build professional, productive and positive internal and external working
- relationships, developing focused solutions
- Maintain communication with all departments to identify and address areas of concern
- Investigate, follow-up and mediate employee concerns to come to equitable resolution with adherence to progressive disciplinary procedures
- Create and maintain job descriptions within the facility
- Manage internal and external recruitment functions
- Manage employee recognition/appreciation programs and activities
- Manage and lead social committee
- Manage employee engagement through recognition/appreciation programs and employee
- surveys
- Strategic planning with regards to forecasting and succession planning
- Perform exit interviews
- Administer and document performance reviews and employee personal development plans
- Manage the administration of the benefit programs
- Oversee the management of leaves of absence (STD, LTD) and return-to-work programs
- Develop and manage HR budget and forecast expenditures for each fiscal year
- Manage the activities and performance of the HR & Administrative Assistant
- Ensure RS compliance to existing Company policies as well as Federal and State regulations and
- reporting needs
- Ensure all activities and conduct are consistent with, and supportive of, RS's policies, mission,
- vision and value
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources Management or another related field required
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in Human Resources
- SHRM-CP/PHR certification preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- WCB experience preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal laws
- Health and Safety certification considered an asset
- Experience working in ISO 9001:2015 registered work environment considered an asset
