Topsides Instrument & Controls Commissioning Engineer

Objective

  • Deliver the FPSO I&C equipment system completion & commissioning to ensure that project requirements are executed to meet customer, applicable Classification, statutory rules and project specifications
  • Ensure commissioning procedures are reviewed and approved to ensure safety of personnel and asset
  • Proactively resolve system completion & commissioning issues with the contractor as required in order to allow handover to operations
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with applicable Codes and Standards within the boundaries of the Basis of Design

Specific Accountabilities

  • Provide overall instrumentation and controls commissioning leadership and expertise
  • Assign tasks to commissioning resources in a clear and organized fashion (with well-defined scope and expectations, eliminating duplication of effort and planning activities in required sequence)
  • Ensures the commissioning team have information as to current revisions of drawings, specifications, design documents, as required to perform commissioning
  • Notify Project Manager of items that could impact schedule and implement corrective action, as required
  • Accountable for all equipment commissioning testing to ensure that progress sheets are being completed and filed correctly on a daily basis
  • Ensures the commissioning team adheres to Company established commissioning guidelines, protocol and documentation package requirements
  • Interface and communicate with Project Team and Construction Management expectations for mechanical completion regarding documentation requirements, punch list items, and timely completion of any remedial work
  • Execution of the commissioning turnover processes and interface with the Operations team
  • Ensure all of the commissioning testing activities are documented and understood by all team members
  • Participate in inspections and tests per approved Quality Control Plans for fabrication
  • Keep stakeholders informed with regular reporting on instrumentation and controls progress
  • Safety - Responsible for personal safety--safe working practices for the position and reports

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Instrumentation and controls commissioning experience on FPSO execution teams
  • Experience in planning and management of others is desirable.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in offshore oil and gas industry with a focus on fabrication/commissioning activities for the instrumentation and controls discipline on offshore and FPSO/FPU projects
  • Strong and broad technical knowledge across most aspects of offshore oil and gas development
  • Sound knowledge of instrumentation and controls commissioning processes and tools
  • Must have strong management and leadership skills and also be capable of easily and productively working in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Ability to handle problems and difficult situations under pressure circumstances
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic approach is essential
