Job Overview

- The primary purpose of this role is to drive and deliver safe and sustainable electrical design on a project moving into execution phase.

- The project has a sustainable focus with conversion of an existing site into a renewable fuels site.

- The successful candidate is expected to be able to lead and coordinate the design deliverable, coordinate work amongst the team, ensure technical integrity of the deliverable and conduct work in line with Company procedures.

- Proven discipline project lead experience on brownfield projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver discipline specific design and drafting services that meet Company, the client's and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and effectively manage resourcing of the project electrical design team and ensure that the design and drafting services meet project requirements on time and within budget.
  • Perform discipline specific design and drafting services such as:
  1. ensure the project scope is clear and that changes to scope comply with project change management processes;
  2. prepare/assist and oversee the production of engineering drawings and documentation;
  3. ensure all drawings and documents are checked in accordance with Company checking procedures; and
  4. participate in project reviews as required.
  • In a project design lead capacity:
  1. Initiate, manage and supervise, design and drafting assignments with the home office and Work-share team
  2. Ensure technical integrity of the discipline's deliverable through the implementation of checking and design review activities
  3. Provide technical direction, control and supervision for design on the project
  4. Deliver the discipline's design deliverable within schedule and budget
  5. Manage quality and consistency within the discipline
  6. Coordinate change control and technical query process within the discipline
  7. Manage discipline resources assigned to the project
  8. Report progress of discipline deliverable
  9. Resolve discipline technical issues
  10. Coordinate design with other disciplines and squad checking deliverable
  11. Motivate and manage the team's performance, competency and develop staff within the group including the provision of on-the-job training;
  • Assist in scoping requirements and estimating design budget in response to requests for Lead Engineers
  • Support the discipline in interviewing candidates for the project.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with the project Lead Engineers, other discipline design teams, Work-share team and Project Engineers/Managers on design progress, technical matters, work-share and resource planning.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships within Company, with its clients and other stakeholders.
  • Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions; and ask for assistance if required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • A recognised design qualification (Advanced Diploma) in the relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in designing and drafting with at least 5 years recently in oil and gas (or closely allied) industry, BP preferred.
  • Proven lead role experience managing designers on a multiple brownfield portfolio oil and gas projects.
  • Experienced, competent user of AVEVA 3D modelling packages, (PDMS, E3D), AutoCAD, Microstation (2D & 3D) and lighting design software (DIALux, AGi32)
  • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite, PDF Exchange, Bluebeam
  • Selection of electrical equipment (lighting & small power, control & wiring devices, enclosures)
