Energy Resourcing are currently searching for a Lead Design Engineer to work with a leading manufacturer based in the North East of Scotland on a permanent basis.
This position will see the candidate involved in the entire engineering process, from producing designs for tenders through to leading the design of new build equipment.
The candidate will have a close working relationship with other engineers and draughtsman and will be directly reporting to the Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
Your daily tasks and responsibilities will include:
Working within the engineering team to design, engineer and deliver new build hydraulic and mechanical equipment. Using Autodesk Inventor to model new designs to the client's specification and producing the fabrication, machining and assembly drawings required to build the equipment. Ensuring that the company keeps up to date with the relevant standards and directives. Being the focal point for the client, managing projects from concept to completion, and being responsible for ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget. Producing and checking documents, including but not limited to: Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Integration Tests, Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Non-Conformance Reports.
Working closely with the Workshop Supervisor and Workshop Technicians during the build stage of new equipment, capturing any design changes and answering technical queries. Representing the company when interfacing with suppliers and clients.
Skills/Qualification
You must be a driven team player who is mechanically minded with an excellent attention to detail and a genuine passion for engineering. Experience in mechanical design engineering role. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc Hons) A high level of competence and experience in: Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Producing engineering drawings Designing mechanical systems Clear track record of being responsible for the design of new build equipment, from concept to as built. Capable of using an FEA software (preferably Autodesk Nastran) to carry out analysis on mechanical components.
Capable of carrying out various engineering calculations by hand.
Understanding of UK industry standards and directives associated with company work scopes. Experience of designing and manufacturing products including but not limited to: Electric/Diesel/Pneumatic Hydraulic Power Units, Umbilical Reelers, Spooling Units, High Pressure Pump Units, Mechanical handling equipment.
Preferred: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Meng / MSc)
CEng Professional Status Knowledge of DNVGL-ST-E271 and DNVGL-ST-E273 standards and the Machinery Directive Competent in using Autodesk Frame Generator Experience of tendering for new projects, producing a CTR and technical bid to suit a client's specification. Competent with the design of hydraulic systems.
