Hydraulic Engineer

Position: Permanent

Location: Calgary, AB

Energy Resourcing is looking for Hydraulic Engineer for our client in Calgary, AB to support the various business groups by providing fluid hydraulics expertise in the design, construction, and operation of all pipeline and pump stations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the Pipeline Commercial, Projects, and Operations groups
  • Liaise with support systems personnel involved with day-to-day system operations and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive hydraulic models of all pipeline systems, conducting steady-state and transient pipeline hydraulic analyses, incremental volume analysis and other special studies as needed
  • Generate reports and/or summaries for completed hydraulic analyses
  • Prepare and publish short and long-term system expansion plans and feasibility studies including investigation of planned alternatives
  • Develop and maintain equipment model databases in Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS)
  • Review 3rd party hydraulics work
  • Assist in capital growth projects
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of software programs used in analysis and studies
  • Review and approve work completed by others
  • Assist in the optimization of existing pipeline assets to increase flow
  • Provide guidance to Pipeline Integrity for pressure restrictions during integrity activities such as purges and digs
  • Coordinate, review and implement Management of Change (MOC) initiatives

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a Hydraulic Engineer required
  • Pipeline industry experience is required
  • 2+ years of pipeline hydraulic modelling experience
  • Experience using computer programming code such as VBA and Python
  • Advanced skills in Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) hydraulic modelling software are required
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable engineering principles, regulations and industry standards
  • Knowledgeable in current operating standards, codes, rules and regulations that relate to pipeline operations
  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Engineering degree, preferably in chemical or mechanical
  • Professional Engineer, APEGA registered
