Health & Safety Manager – Offshore Wind Project (UK)
The Health & Safety (H&S) Manager is responsible for providing advice to the Senior Project Management team on matters related to Health and Safety and CDM compliance. The Health & Safety manager has a dual reporting line to fulfill towards Principal Offshore Safety Engineer with thew client Offshore H|SQ Business department and reporting to project’s Director.
The H&S Manager will head up the Health & Safety Department in the EPC Offshore Wind Project including the OFTO-Package. The job holder leads the H&S team both at the London office and the offshore site including onshore roles which are managed by a Health & Safety Site Lead.
You will have 3 direct reports and up to 15 indirect. Initially the individual will assist, at local level in the London office, in implementing the H&S management system during the pre-construction phase. As the project gets nearer to construction, the role will focus on implementing the H&S management controls at the site. This will include working jointly with the Package managers together to ensure sufficient H&S resources are embedded within the package.
During the Pre-FID/auction phase the job holder will assure that the pre-qualification and tenders are done to health & safety requirements including in developing an audit program for the evaluation and selection of suppliers, contractors and service providers.
The Project H&S Manager is also responsible for ensuring safety input to the project Risk assessment process (HAZID/HIRA) both to ensure that both the design and associated construction activities have been sufficiently assessed.
To develop and manage a health & safety team within the project, both within the project team and the supply chain, throughout the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand over phases.
To work with CDM advisor for the project and the project management team to ensure CDM compliance on the project. To act as the principal Client H&S representative under CDM. CDM requires the appointment of H&S resource across all levels and so project H&S manager should act as main H&S representative.
You must have offshore wind experience with a clear understanding of the construction phases, Safety Management Systems, wind turbine generators, substations and offshore EPC. You will be degree qualified (ideally) with NEBOSH.
