Controls System Engineer

Position: Permanent

Location: Louisiana LA

The Control Systems Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager while working to continually improve plant automation system safety and reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of automation equipment control strategies and equipment reliability programs,
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance programs for plant automation equipment
  • Identify, develop & evaluate new technologies in the ironmaking field
  • Schedule, perform, and oversee hardware and software modifications
  • Testing and maintenance on automation and instrumentation equipment
  • Interpret and document test results
  • Develop and improve automation-related practices and procedures
  • Develop and deliver technical training for plant electrical technicians and effectively communicate technical concepts, both verbally and in writing, between multiple groups and disciplines

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Controls or Automation Engineer
  • 2+ years of experience with programming and troubleshooting Emerson Delta V Distributed Control System equipment
  • BS or MS relating to Automation Engineering or Controls Engineering
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Preferred:

  • Experience with DRI (Direct Reduction Iron) making processes an asset
  • Experience with HYL ZR DRI plant process equipment and control methodology
  • Experience with function block programming, ladder logic, C#, C++, Visual Studio an asset
  • Experience with process communication protocols (Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus DP, Modbus TCP/IP)
