Air Emissions Specialist / Business Systems Analyst

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Our client is currently seeking an Intermediate Emissions Specialist / Business Systems Analyst for their Development and Implementation Team, based out of Calgary, Alberta.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a tech savvy Air Emission Specialist / Business Systems Analyst with a strong comprehension and foundation in data mapping, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Implementing the client software platform for their clients. This involves the collection and analysis of data required for reporting to

o BC Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulation (BC GHGRR),

o Alberta Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Regulation (AB TIER),

o Alberta Specified Gas Reporting Regulation (AB SGRR),

o Alberta Annual Emissions Inventory Report (AEIR)

o Alberta Annual Methane Reporting through OneStop

o Saskatchewan Management and Reduction of Greenhouse Gases Regulation (SK MRGHG),

o Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Emission Management Regulations (SK OGEMR),

o Federal Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS)

o Federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP), and

o Federal National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI).

· Calculate benzene emissions from glycol dehydrators using GRI-GLYCalc, develop Dehydrator Engineering and Operating Sheets (DEOS) and prepare annual dehydrator inventory lists as per applicable regulations

· Develop and manage Methane Reduction Retrofit Compliance Plans (MRRCP)

· Co-ordinate Fugitive Emissions Management Plans / Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programs

· Co-ordinate NOx Emission Intensity testing and manage Multi-sector Air Pollutant Regulation compliance programs

· Co-ordinate and interpret volumetric and emission field testing results (tank venting, compressor venting, pneumatic device venting, etc.)

· Develop and co-ordinate carbon offset and methane emission abatement programs

· Review and understand existing processes and collaborate with the client groups to create detailed mapping documentation based on business and system requirements

· Find common trends/requests across client groups in order to suggest product enhancements, features, plug-ins etc.

· Gather metrics and analyze data to assist in making architectural choices for the product

· Provide applied ad-hoc data analysis and analyze data architecture for continuous improvement

· Examine variables that exist while mapping processes and consolidating data from different sources to a common platform

· Define new processes to consolidate different data sources and create the format and/or templates for data presentation

· As and when required, conduct industry (oil & gas) and product relevant research

· Develop performance measures for evaluation and review functional and design specifications

· Provide project reporting at various levels, including regular input and updates to leadership/clients

· As required, develop strategies, prepare business cases and cost-benefit analysis, and conduct feasibility studies for business and/or IT initiatives

· As required perform data validation on the platform

· Perform user testing and validation for new features and functionality on the platform


· Environmental Science or Engineering Degree (or relevant diploma/degree from a credible institution) or equivalent work experience

· Excellent communication, writing, organizational, computer and problem-solving skills

· Strong Microsoft Office skills

· Solid understanding of upstream, midstream and oil sands operations

· Minimum of three years of experience in GHG and NPRI quantification and reporting

· Preference given to candidates who have experience with energy efficiency projects or greenhouse gas offset projects

· Preference given to candidates who have experience working with AER Directive 017

· Willingness to learn and be cross trained

· Valid driver’s license

· Self-motivated with willingness to succeed independently and within a team environment
