Accounting Manager
Position: Permanent
Location: Houston, TX
Our client is looking for an Accounting Manager who has experience working in a shared service model. The Accounting Manager will be the liaison with the shared service, create solutions to improve processes, and have a strong technical accounting background (must have public experience). This role requires an individual to be a champion of change and drive the success of the shared service model.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage & mentor a team of accounting professionals
- Will be responsible for executing monthly close process
- Review multiple legal entity trial balances for reasonableness & identify risks
- Will be approving and reviewing US account reconciliations
- Responsible for working with Operations, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Project Accountants, Legal, HR, Payroll, Treasury, Tax and other support functions to address process improvements and ad hoc requests
- Direct contact and support of external audits
- Analyze and report burden & fringe accrual status
- Will be required to be available some evenings to respond to corporate inquiries
- Review intercompany reconciliations and make recommendations for corrections
- Interpret current/new IFRS guidance and provide training to users
- Directs the maintenance of the accounting records and accounting systems and processes.
- Ensures compliance with appropriate legislation related to effective design, and operation of appropriate internal controls. Ensures financial policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensures accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year end reporting of financial assets.
- Prepares month-end and quarter-end analysis of balance sheet and income statement.
- Partners with Operation Leadership to ensure that results are in line with strategic objectives, budget and forecast.
- Responsible for annual budgeting process and monthly forecast. Involves operations leadership to ensure the budget and forecasts are realistic and consistent with the Business' strategic goals.
- Liaison with external auditors and internal auditors as part of the quarterly reviews and year-end audit and SOX Compliance testing.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a Finance or Accounting lead role
- Active CPA status; Oracle Financials
- Experience with Hyperion Reporting.
- 3 years of experience in Public Accounting Audit Assurance
- Experience with managing and leading an accounting staff of more than 4
- ERP migration/conversion exposure
- Technical accounting implementation & training
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized and ability to delegate requirements
