Location: Covington Laboratory, Covington

Location Requirements:

  • The open position requires working onsite at the Covington Laboratory.
  • Candidates outside of Covington will be considered as long as they are willing to relocate.

Responsibilities:

  • Log in samples and communicate with customers to determine work requests.
  • Prepare solid and fluid samples for analysis.
  • Perform sample extractions, SEM imaging and spectroscopy, particle analysis, x-ray diffraction, and other analyses as needed.
  • Prepare crude oil samples for analysis, process for bulk properties, and long-term storage.
  • Provide secondary analytical support across all sections of the tech center.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate multiple pieces of equipment necessary to conduct experiments.
  • Perform routine lab maintenance, housekeeping, and sample inventory management.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience with scanning electron microscopy, materials characterization, including imaging, spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Willing and able to work safely with hazardous samples and chemicals.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects independently.

Education Requirement:

Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek a Pore Pressure (PPFG) / Geomechanics Specialist to join their team located in Houston, TX for a 12-month contract position with benefits!

Role Synopsis
The central Western Hemisphere Pore Pressure and Geomechanics team located in Houston is looking for a Pore Pressure/Geomechanics specialist to join the team and support well planning and execution for all of the Western Hemisphere.  This team supports all of the Gulf of Mexico, Trinidad, and exploration (including Brazil and Canada) producing assets and exploration activities offshore.  In addition, the team is becoming increasingly involved in appraisal and development work for Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in the US.  We work closely with our subsurface and wells teams both in the Western Hemisphere as well as globally to safely and effectively deliver wells for company.
The Pore Pressure/Geomechanics Specialist is an integral member of the cross-disciplinary well delivery teams and provides support for well planning and execution by developing geologically sound and compliant pore and fracture pressure forecasts and wellbore stability models. The specialist is involved in all aspects of well planning from early concept, through detailed well planning, execution and post well analysis. During execute the specialist also collaborates with the Real Time Collaboration Center on pressure detection efforts and with subsurface, drilling, and completions toto incorporate pore pressure and wellbore stability learnings and understanding to safely and effectively execute the wells.
Primary Accountabilities
  • Pore Pressure and Fracture Pressure Forecasting:
    • The successful candidate is expected to integrate multiple types of indicators and observations of pressure and fracture gradient in a geologic context to generate a pre-drill pore pressure and fracture gradient (PPFG) forecast.  This may include: pressure from seismic velocities, offset well data such as measured pressures, connection gases, log derived pressures in shale, and basin models for building the pore pressure model and log data, drilling events/data, mini-frac/leakoff test data, lost circulation events, impact of reservoir depletion and lithology variations to constrain fracture gradient and minimum stress. .
    • The successful candidate with then integrate their work with others on the multi-disciplinary well planning team to optimize the design on the selection of drilling fluid type/weight, casing string design, setting depths, potential geo-hazards and mitigation techniques. They will also be able to communicate the technical work as well as the risks and mitigations to a wide range of stakeholders, ranging from the drilling team, the Operations team monitoring the well, leadership as we well as co-owners and governmental regulators.
  • Operational Support for Pore Pressure Detection as required for complex development or exploration wells in collaboration with the remote collaboration center; including real-time model calibration, kick analysis, gas and breathing analysis and losses investigations as well as interpretation of formation integrity tests. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating the updated PPFG model and forecast going forward to the operations team and to recommend potential changes to mudweight or drilling strategy and potential locations for pressure points.
  • Drillability Assessment: work closely with wells to develop wellbore strengthening model and implementation plan for drilling through depleted reservoirs.
  • Wellbore stability analysis: Developing wellbore stability models as the basis for providing minimum mud weight recommendations for drilling and completing wells. There will be an emphasis on analysis and integration of data from multiple sources e.g. log data, drilling data, cavings analysis, image and caliper log analysis etc.
  • Operational assessment: contribute to Reservoir Development Operating Limits, broaching analyses, zonal isolation assessment, alternate well design, deviation/abandonment risk assessments. Participate in risk assessments to represent the PPFG, zonal isolation and broaching risks.
  • Participation in subsurface related non-productive time (NPT) analyses and investigations
  • Support development and implementation of a world class PPFG and Geomechanics toolkit. 
  • Represent company externally as required at industry meetings and JIPs etc.

Essential Education
Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Science, Geoscience, Geomechanics or Mathematics
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant oilfield (drilling PPFG/geomechanics) with operator or service company. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complicated technical work to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams and competing priorities to deliver challenging wells.
  • The candidate must be familiar with PPFG, geomechanics, drilling and subsurface aspects of Well Planning and Execution.
Desirable Criteria and Qualifications
  • Previous PPFG experience with an operator; previous geomechanics experience such as wellbore stability and formation pressure integrity tests, strong geology and geophysics background and experience with well planning.
  • Experience generating pre-drill PPFG forecasts for deepwater wells in both development and exploration settings.
  • Awareness of Geology, Petrophysics, Basin Modelling, Processing Geophysics, Reservoir Geomechanics, Drilling Engineering, Rig Systems, and Well Control.
  • Software proficiency and coding capability (e.g., VBA, Python, Techlog and Petrel).

Who you are

  • Review vendor and the company's in-house coordination drawings/redlines to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the piping engineering team and other design/manufacturing disciplines to resolve issues/concerns that may arise during the project in a timely manner.  This includes, but is not limited to: schedule, change orders, non-conformance, and drawing/manufacturing defects
  • Validate delivered vendor equipment has been manufactured to issued IFC drawings and that the received equipment corresponds to the current 3D model and construction drawings.

Requirements:
 
  • Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D (P3D) – 3D Modeling is a must.
  • Experience with Autodesk Advance Steel is a must
  • An Associate degree in Drafting & design is preferred or 3+ years’ experience is accepted.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar position is preferred.
  • Domestic and some overseas travel is expected at approximately 10-20%.

Our client is seeking a Project Analyst (New Nuclear) to work in Richland for a one year assignment, initially.

Responsible for coordination, tracking, and execution project estimates. Provide challenges, technical direction and assistance to project managers using the tools and processes for developing project scope, detailed project schedules, cost estimates, and perform detailed analysis and control activities. Monitor and report all project schedule/scope/cost changes to project managers and New Nuclear management in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed project implementation schedules using P6.
  • Integrate project cost estimates and schedule to produce a logic tied, resource loaded cost flow projection.
  • Analyze schedule deviations to identify and report on activities with potential impact on cost/schedule.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop an accurate Estimate to Completion (ETC) to ensure predictable project performance and cost forecasts.
  • Track changes to projected and actual project budgets and record needed and/or potential budget impacts in the appropriate software along with communicating budget impacts to the Nuclear Development team and Corporate Finance.
  • Process journal entries into the financial system to accrue for completed but not invoiced work, and to transfer any identified mischarges to the correct project / work order.
  • Ensure adequate configuration control of the data during the project approval process and project execution.
Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Knowledge of project reporting and cost analysis of project information
  • Experience supporting large, complex projects with billion-dollar budgets.
  • Microsoft Power BI, Asset Suite, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Workday
  • Experience in the Utility Industry and a general understanding of nuclear plant operations (SMR experience preferred)

Our client is seeking a Piping Inspector to work within their facilities located in Port Arthur, TX, for an initial 1-year assignment.

The Piping Inspector must have a strong background in all aspects of piping especially in the field of cryogenics and LNG construction. They will oversight all the contractor and subcontractor construction methods and inspection personnel. The Piping Inspector will assist the Lead Inspector in mentoring the quality staff in their areas of expertise.

Position will also be responsible for overseeing all quality aspects of construction and installation activities related to piping. Specific tasks may include but will not be limited to quality compliance of materials storage and handling, piping, equipment installation, managing/controlling Non-conformance Reports, construction testing, quality inspections, reviewing test procedures and other tasks as assigned by QA/QC Management.

The Piping Inspector will also be required to support other site activities (e.g., other site coordination and/or investigations, audits, or other related duties as designated by the QA/QC Management).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides guidance and technical support to the project inspection team for safe performance in quality control including inspection of fabrication procedures and construction procedures/activities.
  • Ensures contractor compliance of quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Reviews drawings, schedules, specifications, and permits to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborates with project engineers in monitoring construction activities for compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Works with project engineers and Construction Manager to review engineering plans for plant constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Effectively monitors contractor’s non-conformance and deviation control systems.
  • Provides input to weekly and monthly construction progress reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of general construction practices with emphasis on electrical, mechanical, piping, coatings, insulation and structural testing and inspections.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Self-starter with proven leadership abilities, strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must have a working knowledge reading and interpreting construction drawings and schematics to aid in troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently in area(s) of expertise.
  • Ability to influence a team to focus reviews on compliance to project specifications and LNG best industry practices to deliver excellence in the quality of the work.
  • Must have secondary language skills in Spanish – be prepared to attend improvement lessons as provided.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field of study or equivalent construction related experience.
  • 10 years of experience in jobsite inspection to ensure compliance with the requirements as outlined in project plan and procedures, codes, standards, certificates, permits, and agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring EPC Contractor QA/QC plans and performance.
  • General construction of major project systems.
  • Certified Welding Inspection certification or similar certification in welding inspection/technology is preferred.
Other Qualifications
This position is assigned to a field office and will require working outdoors, resulting in exposure to extremes of heat, cold, noise and dust. Will be exposed to normal construction equipment and site hazards. Will be expected to work at heights and comply to the safety regulations in force. Must be open to relocation since the project location is in a remote area which typically requires long commutes to nearest town.
