Meet the team: Sarah Nicholson

2023.07.11 Sarah Nicholson

Name: Sarah Nicholson

Title: MSP Coordinator

Region: Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom

Time with company: Since August 2022

What do you do at Energy Resourcing?

My role with Energy Resourcing is MSP Coordinator. I’m based in our Stockton office, and I look after all aspects of the MSP program, which means we are the Managed Service Provider for the Worley Group. This includes any new contract vacancies that come in. I ensure they are all accurate and up to date in iCIMS and seek the correct approvals from the relevant hiring manager. I am also responsible for ensuring that the vacancies are correctly advertised on job boards and released to the relevant external agencies and assigned to the correct Energy Resourcing recruiter.

I process all gifted candidates that Worley identifies. This includes gaining IR35 approvals if they are PSC workers, negotiating pay rates with candidates, and seeking approvals from hiring managers and HR so that candidates can then go on to be onboarded by our CMS team.

How did you get into your current career?

I fell into the world of recruitment in 2018 and, like many people, I have worked in various sectors within recruitment including healthcare, energy, and services. Before this, I worked for a well-known car rental company.

Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?

We recently launched the MSP program in the UK in May, which was a challenging but also rewarding process to be part of.

What’s the best part of your role?

No day is the same, and it is very fast-paced. I like that you get to speak with a variety of people within the business, including supporting different hiring managers and candidates for a variety of roles.

What is the most challenging part of your role?

I would say trying to gain IR35 approvals for candidates who want to join as a PSC (Personal Service Company). It can take time and be frustrating for us and the candidates.

Any words of advice for young graduates?

Always ask for support in order to learn and get where you want to be.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with my partner, Jack, and our two-year-old daughter Isabella. We are always out and about making memories. I also enjoy working out, which I do at least 3-4 days a week.

What was the last book you read?

I don’t really get time to read since having my little one two years ago. When I do get some free time, I would rather watch a good series on TV or do a workout!

Film you watched?

I generally prefer series rather than films; I recently binge-watched all 10 Below Deck series on Netflix and Amazon Prime. However, If I do watch a film, it would be a Marvel film and my favourite one would have to be Guardians of the Galaxy.

Music you listened to?

Dermot Kennedy – my partner Jack saw him play in Dublin recently. It was amazing.

It’s about creating a closer relationship between ourselves, hiring managers and candidates.
