What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I am a Senior Recruiter that works on filling various positions, including engineering, corporate, and IT roles. I also manage some of the accounts that our Business Development team brings in by handling all the coordinating with the client.
How did you get into your current career?
I started recruiting as a researcher and sourced resumes for multiple recruiters; after becoming very successful in identifying candidates, I trained to become a full-fledged recruiter. Since being a recruiter, I have worked for multiple industries and helped place hundreds of people.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
I am working on multiple projects for different managers and clients; mostly filling Worley openings, but also external clients.
What’s the best part of your role?
I like talking to candidates and interacting with them; it’s a really good feeling, to help people find jobs that they love.
What is the most challenging part of your role?
Being in a ‘people business,’ anything can happen. Nothing is ever consistent, but that’s also the fun part – every day is different.
Any words of advice for young graduates?
Learn as much as you can and do what you love doing. If you do what you love, everything else comes a little easier.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to work on cars and keep an eye on the stock market. I also recently started riding motorcycles, so I’ve been practising in my free time!
What was the last book you read?
Our team recently had a team-building exercise where we read ‘The Ideal Team Player’ by Patrick Lencioni. It helped us learn about how we interact with other types of workers in the workplace. It was great!
Film you watched?
I don’t watch many movies, but Interstellar was the last movie I watched – a good sci-fi movie!
Music you listened to?
I do love music and listen to all types, but I really enjoy the oldies/60s era. I also listen to anything from avant-garde/post-punk to hip-hop, as well.
