What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I am a Recruitment Consultant, responsible for recruiting candidates to engineering departments. I act as a first point of contact for our candidates and clients, advising, coaching and helping all parties involved to ensure successful matches of talented professionals with the most challenging and interesting projects on the Dutch market.
How did you get into your current career?
I have six years of experience in recruitment; I started as an associate at Shell in Kraków, Poland, where I’m originally from. I wanted to evolve to a full-time recruiter, and here we are a couple of years later, with way more experience and still enjoying it every day.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
Currently, I am working on multiple projects in both oil and gas and renewable energy (carbon capture) based in the Netherlands.
What’s the best part of your role?
The best part of my role is the constant relationship-building with candidates from all over the world, learning about their experiences, passions, and motivations. I believe that to be a successful recruiter, you must build trust and meaningful relationships with the candidates you’re trying to help. I am still in contact with people I helped a couple of years back, even though we are not working together anymore!
What is the most challenging part of your role?
Recruitment in the current market is very dynamic, which makes my work challenging, but at the same time, keeps me going and keeps me motivated every single day.
Any words of advice for young graduates?
The best advice I got in my career, which helped me to develop to where I am now, was: “Two things you are in total control of in your life are your attitude and your effort.”
What do you like to do outside of work?
Along with my fiancé, I love spending time outdoors, exploring new places and trying local food. We also love playing board games. Our last discovery is the “Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle” game. So much fun!
I am also a huge fan of true crime stories, so I watch lots of documentaries and listen to podcasts.
What was the last book you read?
Recently I read ‘Apples Never Fall’ by Liane Moriarty. The next book on my to-read list is ‘Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café’ by Fannie Flagg. But my absolute guilty pleasure is reading Marvel comic books!
Film you watched?
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I am a Marvel geek, so watching movies and series based on the comic books I love is the cherry on top!
Music you listened to?
My playlist has it all, from Ozzy Osbourne and Queen to Dolly Parton, Coldplay and Harry Styles. Call it eclectic, if you like!
