Name: Niaomi Bell
Title: Proposals & Marketing Coordinator
Region: Global role supporting our Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, South Korea, Singapore, UK and USA offices
Time with company: 10 months
What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I work as a Proposals and Marketing Coordinator as part of the global team. So, my role is split between two functions. With marketing, I support all our locations with their marketing efforts, this could be anything from presentations to blogs and social campaigns. I also work closely with my colleague JC to drive our overall marketing activity, pushing out content and materials that support our broader global strategy.
On the Proposals side, I coordinate the submission of any RFIs and RFPs that come through. This can be through one single regional team or those company-wide submissions that require input from our teams in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. I also support our regional teams with related business development and sales material.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
A few, I’m currently working on re-building our old bids and tenders SharePoint site. The existing site hasn’t been updated regularly since 2017, so as you can imagine it’s quite the task! My aim is to have completed phase one of this and have the site up and running, ready to be used by the end of the quarter.
I’m also working with each region to build-out case studies. We’ve done a lot of great work recently, and I think it’s important to showcase that!
How did you get into your current career?
I suppose I kind of fell into it so to speak. In the summer before starting my fourth and final year at University I got a three-month placement as an Events and Marketing Assistant at a technology company supporting the energy sector. This was my first shoe in the door to the marketing industry. After the initial placement period, I was kept on part-time during my final year at University and moved into the Marketing and Communications team, which started to pave my way into marketing.
I was in that role until early 2019, then pandemic hit and I had to move back home finished my studies online. During this time a colleague I worked with in my former role went on to start a new job at Worley, and when a vacancy came up with the Energy Resourcing team, she encouraged me to apply. I had an interview with the team, and the rest is history!
What’s the best part of your job?
Each week differs from the next, so it’s a great learning experience and very hands-on. In my short time here, I’ve been involved in a lot of big projects, from RFPs to our re-brand.
I’m lucky that my roles require me to constantly communicate with all aspects of the business. It means you learn a lot at a swift pace which is great and on a global scale – it allows me to support functions across the world
What keeps you at Energy Resourcing?
The team! I can’t express enough how easy it is to approach each person working for Energy Resourcing, no matter the level. It’s a great dynamic to be part of and feel genuinely supported.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m a huge football fan, I support Rangers Football Club, based in Glasgow. I try to get to the stadium as much as possible, but it’s a pretty hard task to get tickets, so often I have to settle for the TV.
I also like to bake, I make a pretty good cheesecake! Other than that I have nieces and nephews that I love to spend time with (dropping them back off at their parents its just as good too!).
When I can I like to take part in fundraising events. Last October I completed the ‘Walk 100 miles in a month’ campaign to raise money for Breast Cancer now.
If you hadn’t got into your current career… what would you have become?
I’d have probably gone down the events route, I love the excitement that world brings. Or Journalism. I got accepted into University, but I changed my mind at the last second!
What was the last book you read
Currently I’m reading ‘Grown-Ups’ by Marian Keyes.
Before that it was the ‘Road Trip’ by Beth O’Leary, she’s one of my favourite authors right now, if you’re ever in the need of a good light-hearted read I recommend her stuff. The Flat Share is a must!
Film you watched?
Morbius at the cinema. Usually, a marvel fan but wow was this bad. I actually fell asleep towards the end…
The last music you listened to?
It was most-likely a study playlist on YouTube. Sometimes if I have a project that requires me to sit down and really focus into, I like to stick them on as it helps me get in the zone.
This is my favourite one at the minute, if you’re like me an need a bit of music to help you focus!
