What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I work as a Recruitment Specialist in the recruitment team, based in Aberdeen. I mainly work on all our blue-collar trade roles offshore and onshore; I also look after construction and administration roles.
How did you get into your current career?
Like most people in recruitment, I fell into it! I was working at a recruitment agency as an administrator and just gradually started helping out with the odd role. Before I knew it, I was looking after 150 candidates on a weekly basis.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
Most of the roles I work on are for external clients offshore, so projects can vary on a day-to-day basis, from maintenance work offshore to busy shutdowns.
What’s the best part of your role?
Growing relationships with my candidates. I still keep in touch with candidates that I placed years ago, and I’ve met some great people along the way.
What is the most challenging part of your role?
IR35 has had a massive impact on recruitment and is a challenge as a whole. Recruitment is forever changing, so having to adapt quickly can be daunting; this is why having a good team behind you is so important.
Any words of advice to young graduates?
Every moment is an opportunity to learn from everyone around you, no matter their title.
What do you like to do outside of work?
When I’m not working, I’m with my dog, Nala, who is a toy poodle – she comes everywhere with me! We love to go on adventures to different places on the weekends.

‘Manifest: Dive Deeper’ by Roxie Nafousi.

‘Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody.’
Music you listened to?
Chris Brown – I’m going to see him in concert, so I have his playlist on repeat!
