Name: Marie Scholz
Title: Administration & HR Assistant
Region: Cologne, Germany
Time with company: Since April 2021
What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I am the Administration & HR Assistant – Europe. I assist our Europe team with general administration duties, as well as providing support to contractors and assisting with any queries they may have.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
It’s been a busy time as part of the Europe team, we’re expanding our operations and have recently established Energy Resourcing Netherlands B.V in The Hague! So, there’s been a lot of preparations behind the scenes trying to get everything set up and process ready to go.
How did you get into your current career?
I’m currently studying for my bachelor’s degree at the University of Düsseldorf, and I wanted some industry experience so I started looking for a job that I could do during my studies as well as develop myself. Which is when I applied for a role with Energy Resourcing with an open mind and not 100% sure on what I want to do in life. However, I never would have imagined that my first job would be as good of a fit as my role with Energy Resourcing is!
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is that I work with a lot of great colleagues. We have a great team atmosphere. I also really enjoy working with so many different nationalities and in so many different languages. I always love learning a new language and with Energy Resourcing I feel that whatever language you are learning right now, you will always find someone to practice it with.
Any inspirational moments that shaped you?
My exchange year on Vancouver Island in Canada in 2016/17, definitely shaped me! During my time there I did the West Coast Trail, which I believe is one of the hardest hiking trails in the world. It has shown me that I can accomplish more than I thought I could, while pushing my boundaries between bears, mice, and a lot of hot chocolate.
What keeps you at Energy Resourcing?
As I mentioned, I really like the team atmosphere. Everyone is great to talk to and work with, it’s a very welcoming atmosphere. I also really appreciate all the learning opportunities that Energy Resourcing offers me, both language and career development wise.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Whenever I have a spare moment between work and university, I really enjoy baking. Especially French goods, they’ve gotten to me in the past couple of years!
If you hadn’t got into your current career… what would you have become?
When I was younger, I always wanted to be a florist. I now realis that most of the plants I go near usually die pretty fast. So, this probably wasn’t my best career idea. I also could imagine myself as a baker, but this feels better as a hobby for after work.
What was the last book you read?
Honestly, it’s was most likely a book for one of my university courses
Film you watched?
Not a film but over the past few months I’ve been watching Designated Survivor. A series about what happens when the president of the United States and everyone else who could become the president dies.
The last music you listened to?
I like listening to the current charts, but mostly I listen to hits from the 2000s/ 2010s.
