What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I’ve been part of Energy Resourcing’s recruitment team since July 2023, based in Cologne. My main responsibility is account management for the construction sector. It’s a fascinating area, where you always find interesting people and even more interesting conversations.
How did you get into your current career?
During my studies in social science, I did an internship at a small recruiting company, and I immediately fell in love with this work. Since then, I worked as a recruiting consultant and an in-house recruiter. I’ve never regretted my decision to work in the sector.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
Currently, I am focused on building up our network of construction managers and construction engineers in Germany, while also building trust with our customers.
What’s the best part of your role?
To meet new people every day and support them in finding a new work-related challenge. I really enjoy the conversations with candidates on all levels – hearing about their experiences, learning about their line of work and the challenges the construction sector brings, and also having a quick laugh with them during the call. The best thing about this role is always the moment when I can tell the candidates that they got the job!
What is the most challenging part of your role?
To be patient. I always want to place a good candidate immediately, but I must accept that decisions from both the company and the candidate sometimes take time.
Any words of advice to young graduates?
Do not rush things too fast. Take your time to understand what you really want in life and never be afraid to change course if you realise that your current path doesn’t fit you anymore.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I really love to spend time with my family and friends, watching a good movie in the cinema and trying new restaurants. In addition, I love to travel, meet new people and get to know exciting cultures.
What was the last book you read?
‘Fall of Giants,’ a book by Ken Follet.
Film you watched?
‘The Blacklist’ on Netflix. I’m more of a TV series guy, as I enjoy seeing more extensive character development over time.
Music you listened to?
Honestly, I always struggle with this question – I really love to listen to music of nearly every genre and was never invested in one specific artist.
