Name: Jordan Rowson

Title: Global Craft Labour Supply Manager

Region: United Kingdom

Time with company: Since January 2019

What do you do at Energy Resourcing?

I am the Global Craft Labour Supply Manager and my role is to support our locations and customers around the globe with craft labour solutions. Combined with this, I sit in the UK Leadership team and take functional responsibility for business development.

Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?

Yes, I am currently supporting one of our customers with resources in northern Sweden. Our customer is constructing Europe’s largest battery manufacturing plant and leading the green energy revolution. It is really exciting to be a part of this.

How did you get into your current career?

I have always had a keen academic interest in business. Upon graduating, I worked out in the United States for a while and when I came back to the UK to get a new Visa, I took a temporary job in sales. That lead to a customer I worked with offering me a role and with having new born nieces and nephews close by, I decided to stay in Aberdeen.

What’s the best part of your job?

The thing I enjoy most is working on complex projects and finding solutions for our customers. Our business moves at such a pace, the most pleasing aspect is reflecting every so often on what we have achieved.

What challenges have you had to overcome to get to where you are today?

During my relatively short career since graduating, over the last 9 years, I have worked through the worst oil downturn the industry has seen, a global pandemic and lots of change in the North Sea…plenty of challenges!

Any words of wisdom you live by?

The challenges in work, the diversity in thought across the business and the opportunities to grow.

What keeps you at Energy Resourcing?

Celebrating with my girlfriend, nieces and nephews

I enjoy working for a company that gives me the opportunity to grow and learn. They listen to their staff, as well as respect us. These are the things that have kept me working with Energy Resourcing for 6 years.

What do you like to do outside of work?

It won’t be a surprise to my colleagues but most of my free time is taken up with football (Soccer) in one form or another! I am a season ticket holder at Aberdeen football club, my local team and will be down at Pittodrie every home match to watch them. When ‘the dons’ aren’t playing at home, I’m usually watching football on tv. I also play football 3 times a week with various friends groups. It is lucky my girlfriend likes football too or I might have had choices to make!

I also volunteer on 2 voluntary boards, one encouraging entrepreneurship in young people and the other supporting young professionals in the local area.

If you hadn’t got into your current career… what would you have become?

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be an astronaut…I realised that would be too difficult early on so then wanted to be an airline pilot. I took a flying lesson recently which definitely planted a seed…maybe one day we will have Energy Resourcing Airlines!

What was the last book you read?

First Man In- Ant Middleton. He is ex SAS and is pretty well known for being on tv in the UK. However his books around elite mentality and attitudes are excellent.

Film you watched?

I can’t remember…but I’m looking forward to watching the new James Bond when I have time!

The last music you listened to?

My music taste is very diverse so generally put on a Spotify playlist to suit my mood!
