What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I am an experienced recruitment and HR professional; I recruit various profiles for our clients in Europe, from executives to starting roles in engineering, HSE, finance, HR, senior management, construction, project management, legal, engineering, administration and more. I give advice to managers, help colleagues, coach candidates and recruit for many roles across Europe.
How did you get into your current career?
I’m half-Irish, half-Dutch, raised bi-lingual. I was always interested in languages, and therefore I graduated in European Studies, specialising in marketing communication, management and languages. After that, I was approached to become a recruiter. I have gained experience in various roles within international companies and abroad; each experience has helped me to get where I am now!
I’ve studied, lived and worked in The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Spain in sectors like offshore and engineering, medical devices, clean energy and sustainable energy. My expertise lies in recruitment, HR, marketing and business development.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
Currently, I’m working on projects related to the energy transition in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Italy.
What’s the best part of your role?
For me, it’s nice to help companies and candidates with finding their match. I really enjoy conversations with candidates at all levels – listening, coaching, advising, and finding the right job for them. It’s very fulfilling when, after a conversation with a hiring manager, you find the right candidate for their team. It really is a win-win feeling, which makes me love being a recruitment professional!
Next to that, I enjoy networking and spending time with my colleagues. We have fun during work, and my colleagues all have great personalities!
What is the most challenging part of your role?
Being patient! Sometimes I want to place people sooner than is possible!
Any words of advice for young graduates?
Do what you love, laugh and dance a lot, make smart choices and enjoy life to the fullest!
What do you like to do outside of work?
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family. We spend a lot of time outdoors in nature. We recently enjoyed a lovely holiday to Ireland to visit my Irish family, and we had a lovely time visiting castles and listening to live music. I love to spend evenings with family and friends, going for dinner, concerts, festivals and visiting new cities and enjoying beautiful sceneries. I like to walk in nature, listen to music and dance (Salsa, Latin and Ballroom,) which I try to do as often as possible!
What was the last book you read?
‘Atlas’, the final book of The Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. I’ve read all of them! Seven sisters are adopted in different parts of the world, and the books tell their separate life stories with anecdotes about their history in a very enchanting and interesting way.
Film you watched?
I am currently watching a series called ‘Outlander’ on Netflix. A couple of movies I like are ‘a Good Year’ with Russel Crowe, ‘Willow’ with Val Kilmer, ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘A Knight’s Tale’. In general, I enjoy adventurous, action, romantic and funny movies – I enjoy some historic stories as well.
Music you listened to?
Buena Vista Social Club. Their music feels like summer to me. I always enjoy listening and dancing to it!
