What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I am the General Manager in our German office, located in Cologne. I joined the team in February 2020, to grow the German branch, spreading the external client base and develop a close relationship with our clients in Germany.
In addition, I am leading our growth into The Netherlands. We look forward to building a great operation that can sit proudly alongside all the great work we are doing elsewhere around the world.
This is a big milestone for Energy Resourcing. I am excited about what the future holds for us in the Netherlands, Germany, and Europe more broadly.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?
We are currently working on several great opportunities and tenders in the Renewable Energy Sector, especially in the Wind Sector. We are building relationships and knowledge base together with our renewables clients to support their projects all over Europe and the world.
At the same time, we continue to offer our recruitment services in traditional sectors such as chemicals, oil, and gas.
How did you get into your current career?
Originally, I am an engineer with a strong management background. In early 2000 I joined a technology consultancy company where I gained my first recruitment experience with engineers. Since that time, I have worked in recruiting and start-up environments.
What’s the best part of your job?
When my daughter was about 5 or 6 years old, she once told somebody: “My father’s job is constantly drinking coffee and having lunch with others.” Seemed to be a brilliant job for her.
I am thankful for being part of a great team. Exchanging and learning from everybody is a gift, and I really appreciate it. Helping others like colleagues, clients or candidates to overcome their obstacles, seeing them grow, and seeing them smile after reaching their personal goals is fantastic and makes my day.
What challenges have you had to overcome to get to where you are today?
It was through personal experiences that I learned to be humble. My family and friends have accompanied and guided me through these difficult times.
Any words of wisdom you live by?
My credo: “The difference between good and excellent is passion.”
What keeps you at Energy Resourcing?
Have you ever met one of the Energy Resourcing team in person? Have you spoken to them? Ever laughed with them? It’s the best team around the globe.
From the company side, see it through my eyes: Energy Resourcing has 20 years of experience, with offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Singapore, South Korea, United Kingdom, and the United States. We are getting established in Germany but are already supporting one of the most well-known engineering companies in this field. It doesn’t get better than that!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I have been married for more than 20 years to my wife. We have a 19-year-old son, studying in Rotterdam, and a 17-year-old daughter, in her last year of school. My family is definitely the centre of my life, giving me the energy for everything I do.
As I realise every day to look on the sunny side of life. I try to give back as much as possible to society’s disadvantaged. I am an active member of Rotary International with its motto, “Service above Self”.
If you hadn’t got into your current career… What would you have become?
When I was about 12 years old, not that good at school, my father, a teacher, asked me what I want to become if I didn’t make it through the school year. Of course, I answered with full conviction: “Basketball Pro.”
Secret: I am just 1,73 meters tall.
What was the last film you watched?
I watched “The Last Dance”, the story of Michael Jordan. This indescribable will to win, the urge for perfectionism and the pressure on his shoulders to be successful – well worth seeing.
Music you listened to?
My wildest time were the 80’s and 90’s – do you remember ZZ Top, Queen, Prince, …?
