What do you do at Energy Resourcing?

I’m a CMS Advisor (Contract Management Service) for Energy Resourcing based in Aberdeen, Scotland. I am one of the focal points for our contractors. I am responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders such as the projects, hiring managers, and contractors.

We issue the offers, manage the onboarding of our contractors, and support general queries from our contractors. As a CMS provider, we are also responsible for maintaining their contracts to support the projects with their manning requirements and ensuring our contractors are compliant with all regulations.

Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?

I’m currently responsible for 250 contractors across 39 different projects.

How did you get into your current career?

I just finished studying my HND at college for Social Sciences and decided that I would prefer to get into full time work instead of going on to further education at University. I was desperate to start earning a full-time wage and Aberdeen is often referred to as ‘The oil and gas capital of Europe’ so, this is where I set my sights on starting my career in an office environment in the oil and gas field.

I started working for Bilfinger Salamis as a payroll administrator and after 2 years, I started looking for work elsewhere to change the direction in my career as payroll wasn’t for me. After connecting with a recruiter on LinkedIn we got chatting about potential jobs in HR / Logistics and I got my chance to start in personnel logistics. After working in that role for 6 years, I was in a redundancy consultation process with my role at risk. So, I applied for an internal vacancy for a CAT Advisor and got the role in October 2019 where my adventure begun in CMS.

What’s the best part of your job?

It’s a Versatile role, it’s different every day – no two days are the same which keeps me busy and engaged.

What challenges have you had to overcome to get to where you are today?

One of my most recent challenges was the consolidation of Primat Recruitment into Energy Resourcing. This resulted in many data migrations of new projects, new contractors and new colleagues all migrating into the same systems and different ways of working together as a team to ensure we still deliver the same service. With change there is always challenges and lessons learned but together we have come out the other end stronger together.

Any words of wisdom you live by?

It’s 5 O’clock somewhere.

What keeps you at Energy Resourcing?

The flexible working is of the benefits that keep me with Energy Resourcing. My work is very adaptable and flexible when it comes to agreeing flexible working arrangements and during the pandemic there have been instances where my son has been sent home from Nursery and required to isolate and I’ve had the flexibility to work from home whilst looking after him and get to spend my evenings with him by adapting my hours to finish at a suitable time every day.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m at my happiest when spending time with my family and friends. My weekends are spent with my husband and our 18 month old son who keeps us on our feet, we’re also expecting another little one in January 2022!  We also have a dog, Milo, a jug (cross between a Jack Russell and a Pug), so it’s a pretty busy household!

If you hadn’t got into your current career… what would you have become?

A Police officer.

What was the last book you read?

I’m not an avid reader, I’m more into Podcasts and autobiographies. The last book I read was Tap to Tidy by Stacey Solomon.

Film you watched?

The last film I watched at the cinema was James Bond – No Time to Die.

Music you listened to?

I love Acoustic & live music. My favourite artist is Whitney Houston.
