Meet the team: Charlotte Bosley-Plumb

2023.07.25 Charlotte Bosley-Plumb

Name: Charlotte Bosley-Plumb

Title: Content Marketing Coordinator

Region: Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom

Time with company: Since November 2022

What do you do at Energy Resourcing?

I am a Content Marketing Coordinator for Energy Resourcing. Whilst based in the UK, I’m part of the global team, so my role is quite varied. I plan our social media strategy, create presentations, write blog posts, design graphics and more. I’m generally on hand to help with any marketing support needed by our teams across the globe.

How did you get into your current career?

I graduated from university with a degree in Film and Television Production, but I wasn’t totally sure what I wanted to do after that. I tried everything from retail to working as cabin crew before I landed my first marketing job with a small start-up company. I really enjoyed the variety and creative flair involved in marketing; my video editing skills from university also came in handy! I left that first role to join a larger business and worked there for almost four years before joining Energy Resourcing in 2022.

Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?

There’s always a selection of different little jobs going on, but one of the bigger tasks I’m currently looking at is overhauling our blog strategy. We want to optimise our content so that our website is ranking even better on Google, and having strong blog content is a big part of that. I’m also working on redesigning the Energy Resourcing brand guidelines.

What’s the best part of your role?

I’d say the variety of work – no two days are the same. I also appreciate that I can indulge my creativity often in this role. Writing, graphic design, and video editing are all things I genuinely enjoy doing. It sounds nerdy, but I also quite like a good spreadsheet!

What is the most challenging part of your role?

I think the most challenging part of the role is trying to align your schedule with others’ – everyone is busy, so I do find myself having to chase people quite a lot for various bits of content or information to get things posted on time. A lot of marketing is all about planning ahead, particularly when it comes to social media.

Any words of advice for young graduates?

Be open to new opportunities, and don’t be too disheartened if that dream job you really wanted ends up turning you down. I’ve found that sometimes the roles you were most excited about needed to pass you over for you to end up working at the right company. Things seem to happen the way they do for a reason!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m a fairly avid reader, and I try to finish at least one book a month. This love of books extends to writing – I’ve dabbled in penning my own novels for years now. One day I’d love to be published! When I’m not writing or reading, I like to travel as much as possible with my husband and spend time with our mischievous dog, Fen.

What was the last book you read?

‘Fourth Wing’ by Rebecca Yarros. I’m a big fantasy fan.

Film you watched?

‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,’ directed by Tom Gormican. It’s a slightly ludicrous but genuinely funny film featuring Nic Cage, who plays himself. Anyone who likes somewhat meta, tongue-in-cheek movies will probably enjoy this. Plus, it’s got Pedro Pascal!

Music you listened to?

I tend to gravitate towards indie and indie rock. I’ve also got a soft spot for late 90s/early 2000s R&B and Hip Hop, but I listen to most music genres. Some favourites are Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Florence + The Machine and Ashnikko.
