Name: Ashley Crumpler
Title: Finance Manager
Region: United States
Time with company: Since September 2015
What do you do at Energy Resourcing?
I have been the Finance Manager in the US office for the past 6 years. My main focus is to monitor the financial health of Energy Resourcing by overseeing our back-office group, ensuring that all the company’s finances are being met and everything is running efficiently.
It’s important to me to practice a strong sense of customer service to our clients and our vendors. I focus on bringing a strong sense of value to both the US and Canada locations. It’s important to me to help make decisions to provide accurate and timely reporting to meet our company’s objectives and success.
Are you working on any specific projects at the moment?

My current project is working with our Canada location to reduce AR discrepancies, and focus on the best process to ensure that we won’t continue having these issues in the future.
How did you get into your current career?
I started my career working at a company for 5 years that supported my interests in Accounting. This company supported my desire to go to school and gave me the experience I needed to start my Accounting Career.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is knowing I work for a company that respects work-life balance, which is very important to me.
I also enjoy working with a lot of great people. Working with a great team and maintaining relationships with people that I have learned so much from.
What challenges have you had to overcome to get to where you are today?
Some of the challenges I have overcome were at the beginning of my career. I was able to get a job right out of college at a small Oil and Gas Business. But, unfortunately, the economy wasn’t doing well at that time, and my job let go of everyone in the company. So I was out of a job for 6 months.
It was really hard to find opportunities right out of college. But I was able to find a position at a Recruiting company, and this is where my love for the recruiting business started.
Any words of wisdom you live by?
I read this quote once, and it always sticks with me every single day “Sometimes the worst things that happen in our lives put us on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us.”
What keeps you at Energy Resourcing?
I enjoy working for a company that gives me the opportunity to grow and learn. They listen to their staff, as well as respect us. These are the things that have kept me working with Energy Resourcing for 6 years.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and my cute little fur babies. Life is short, and I love to enjoy every time spent with the people I care about and love.

If you hadn’t got into your current career… what would you have become?
I originally started school to become a hotel owner. My dream was to have a hotel on a Beautiful Beach island somewhere, where if I had to work, at least I could be in Paradise.
But instead of working every Holiday and weekend, I figured Accounting was the next best thing.
What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was by Nicolas Sparks – Every Breathe. I am a sucker for a great love story.
Film you watched?
Love Jones
The last music you listened to?
I enjoy listening to Jazz. It’s very relaxing and calming.
Accounting is never boring if you enjoy spending your day with numbers
Accounting has never been boring to Ashley – she enjoys spending her days dealing with numbers. She finds it extremely rewarding to help organise a company’s books and track financial transactions.
Ashley believes in the beauty of accuracy and the order it creates. With changes that happen daily, it can cause challenges, but she knows that’s what keeps it interesting.
Since being with Energy Resourcing, Ashley has gained knowledge of the full Accounting Process and learnt how a business functions from start to finish. She has helped gain the knowledge and skills to help drive our success.
Being an Accountant, Ashley has faced many obstacles, with a constant need to handle multiple tasks at a time and meet deadlines. But this is all part of the excitement that each day brings. There is never a dull moment as there are will always new challenges to solve, relationships to build, and accounts to reconcile.
