1. Get a professional photo
Your LinkedIn profile photo should portray a professional profile that reflects who you are currently. Don’t use a picture from 10 years ago. However, even worse than a bad outdated picture is no picture at all. In fact, profiles with pictures are 11 times more likely to be viewed.
2. Don’t forget your background image
While the default blue banner image on your profile is pretty enough, it does nothing to give your profile page more personality. This image is a great opportunity to visually brand yourself. Find a professional image that represents you and your career.

Most people only think about their LinkedIn profile when they start looking for a new job. Instead update your profile as soon as your position changes, or you get new responsibilities. It will be one less thing to worry about when you start looking for your next opportunity.
